My dear friend and pastry chef Shobna Nadkarni has opened up a new macarons and tea shop in Coal Harbour, Vancouver, BC called Soirette Macarons & Tea. I had the privilege of photographing and sampling their macarons and teas and wanted to share the amazing experience with you!
Soirette’s macarons are wonderful little bites of airiness and flavour. They are lovingly made with the finest ingredients and are wonderful to taste and beautiful to look at! There is a lovely subtlety to these macarons that I haven’t tasted elsewhere, and the textures and flavours dance around in your mouth without being overpowering. One of my favourites is the Lavender macaron, infused with a delicate hint of lavender that is sweet and fragrant, and decorated with small lavender florets on top.
In addition to the lovely macarons, Soirette carries a line of fine teas from around the world. The teas – ranging from black, green and white teas to herbal infusions – are amazingly fragrant in aroma as well as in taste. Many other teas that I’ve tried often entice me with their wonderful smells, but once steeped are lacking in the same intensity of flavour. This is not the case with the fine teas at Soirette! Having photographed all of the teas offered in the shop, I can attest to how tantalizing they are for the senses. I highly recommend the Pink Champagne white tea or the Organic Rose Peony white tea …just remembering their fragrant smells and flavour puts a smile on my face!
The shop is a bright and lovely space to visit with friends and family. Try the Soirette macarons and teas and you’ll see that they make a wonderful treat not only for yourself but for everyone you want to indulge!
